Malajube, Patrick Watson nominated for the Polaris prize

The ten albums nominated for the Polaris prize 2009 is now the two came
from Quebec. The Malajube group is still in the race with his most recent
album Labyrinthes, just like Patrick Watson with his third and most recent
Wooden Arms. They had also won the Polaris in 2007 with Close to Paradise.
 
Our two representatives from Quebec are measuring themselves against five
albums from Toronto - Mountain Meadows by Elliott Brood, The Chemistry Of
Common Life by Fucked Up, Lost Channels by Great Lake Swimmers, Troubadour
by K'NAAN and Fantasies by Metric - as well as one from Calgary (Soft
Airplane by Chad
VanGaalen) and two from the Maritime Provinces (Into Your Lungs (and around
in your heart and on through your blood Newfoundland native Hey Rosetta! And
Three of the NeoScotian Joel Plaskett.
 
For the fourth consecutive year, the Polaris prize recognizes excellence and
creativity of an album by giving Canadian artists a prize of $ 20 000.
 
The finalists were determined by 182 music journalists, broadcasters and
bloggers across the country. Eleven of them will be asked to choose a winner
will be crowned on September 21 as part of a gala at the Masonic Temple in
Toronto.
