The Senators took a bite of the Canadiens

Montreal Canadiens 1 vs. Ottawa Senators
Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Scotiabank Place (Ottawa)

Pre-season

After winning a great victory against the Ottawa Senators at the Bell Center yesterday, the Montreal Canadiens were less sparkling tonight at Scotiabank Place. These same Senators, with Alex Kovalev, won the game easily this time by a score of 6 to 1.

It was the same Kovalev who started it by scoring his first goal with the Senators shorthanded to boot.

But ultimately, it was not the old left winger of the Habs who was the main architect of this convincing Senators victory. Mike Fisher scored a hat trick, recording one goal in each of three periods, while Nick Foligno ended the night with 4 assists.

Carey Price and Cedrick Desjardins shared the task with the Canadiens. Price was rather disappointing letting slip 4 of the 16 shots he faced. With 5 stops of 7 shots, Desjardins was not really in position to make a better impression.

A defeat to forget, in short, for the Montreal Canadiens, who will face the Boston Bruins tomorrow night at Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City.
