Over five days after opening the market for independent players, the star
player of the Montreal Canadiens Alex Kovalev has not signed a contract for
next season. And while hundreds of fans had gathered around the Bell Center
to express their desire to see the Artist once again with the Habs next
year, the d.g. Bob Gainey confirmed this morning on the waves of CKAC, the
number 27 will not be back in Montreal this fall.
Hundreds of fans of the Montreal Canadiens had indeed gathered at the Bell
Center to "express" their love for Kovi. Young and old went all out to try
to express to the direction of Canadien that they wanted to see Kovalev take
the red white and blue sweater next season.
However, during an interview at the radio station CKAC this morning, Bob
Gainey confirmed what all the experts had already known with the hiring of
Michael Cammalleri, Brian Gionta, Scott Gomez, Hal Gill and Jaroslav Spacek
that the Canadiens have no more room for maneuver, to add the salary of Alex
Kovalev.
During last season, Alex Kovalev required $ 4.5 million.
Bob Gainey has, furthermore, offered a contract to Alex Kovalev early in the
first day of free agent market last Wednesday, but it took too long to
respond, while Cammalleri and Gionta have accepted their offer in respective
a short time.
