Alex Tanguay and Mathieu Schneider find new homes

Friday, August 28 2009 11:17PM
Alex Tanguay and Mathieu Schneider find their niche.

Two former players of the Montreal Canadiens,  who become free agents
without compensation, finally found someone interested in them. Mathieu
Schneider initialed an agreement with the Vancouver Canucks in the
afternoon, while earlier in the evening, his former colleague Alex Tanguay
confirmed rumors that he was going to Tampa Bay.

Defenseman Mathieu Schneider was the third acquisition of the Canucks blue
line today. The Vancouver team has also been sought out defenders Christian
Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich in a trade with the San Jose Sharks.

For his part, Alex Tanguay will join Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis
in the uniform of Tampa Bay for a period of one year. Known to have shoulder
injuries, Tanguay has played only 50 games in the uniform of the Montreal
Canadiens last season, accumulating 16 goals and 25 assists.
