Bob Gainey steps down as GM of the Habs; Pierre Gauthier replaces him

Bob Gainey will resign from his role as general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. His assistant Pierre Gauthier will take the job for the short term.

A press conference was scheduled this afternoon today to announce the nomination of Pierre Gauthier. Bob Gainey is staying as special advisor.
