Don Lever, who held the position of head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs before being called to act as Bob Gainey assistant shortly after the dismissal of Guy Carbonneau, was relieved of his functions.
The news was confirmed by La Presse, Monday afternoon, from the mouth Julien Brisebois, the director of operations at the school-club of the Montreal Canadiens in the American Hockey League.
At the time of his recall by the Canadien in the spring, many predicted that Lever was in good position to win the head coach position of the Canadien at the end of the season. With the recent hiring of Jacques Martin, it seems that Don Lever is no longer the man of the hour, either as an assistant coach or in the Bulldogs.
The daily Montrealers also suggest that Guy Boucher could fill the vacant position in Hamilton.
