The rumor was circulating that a game between the Montreal Canadiens and Washington Capitals could take place at the Olympic Stadium this November 28, 2009.
However, if the Montreal Alouettes went in the East final of the Gray Cup, they would compete this November 24 at the Olympic Stadium, which would leave only four days to install the regulatory ice rink in stage for the Canadiens game.
The requirements stipulate that an NHL game outside or in stage must provide at least 7 days for the preparation of the ice. The November 28 game between the Montreal Canadiens and Washington Capitals will therefore play the Bell Center.
