The Frenchman Gael Monfils has paid dearly for his poor start to the match against the Spanish player Juan Carlos Ferrero. Despite a remarkable return in the second round, the 13th World player got eliminated in two rounds 6-3 and 7-6.
After a dull first round, the Frenchman came back in force with some spectacular games. But Ferrero held his rival, to finally prevail in the tie-break.
Juan Carlos Ferrero therefore advanced to the third round where he will face the third seed world player Andy Murray.
