The former Habs captain Saku Koivu comes to an agreement with the Anaheim
Ducks for a one-year contract which should give him $ 3.25 million. Saku
Koivu became the third autonomous player from the Montreal Canadien to sign
an agreement with a new team after Mike Komisarek (Toronto Maple Leafs) and
Alex Kovalev (Ottawa Senators).
Saku Koivu has played 13 seasons games in career in the wearing the Montreal
Canadiens kit. At age 34, he had known his best offensive season in
2006-2007 with a harvest of 75 points, including 22 goals, 81 games. Last
season, he earned 50 points (16 goals) in 65 games.
Various rumors suggest that Saku Koivu would join his brother Mikko in
Minnesota, but it seems that the small Finnish player has chosen to join the
Ducks to play with his old friend Teemu Selanne, who confirmed his return
for at least another season last week.
Crossing in the West Division, Saku will be called to face his brother Mikko
and the Minnesota Wild on several occasions.
