Less than two weeks of its occurrence, the Osheaga Festival loses one of its two main heads poster. The Beastie Boys will not be there on Sunday August 2, at Parc Jean-Drapeau.
The Beastie Boys made the announcement via video on their official website.
One of three main members, Adam Yauch (better known by his nickname "MCA") will be treated to remove a benign form of cancer to the parotid gland, which causes the cancellation of all their concerts for the summer, including their participation in the Lollapalooza festival, All Points West and of course, Osheaga in Montreal.
For the next of the Beastie Boys album, entitled Hot Sauce Committee will be postponed to a later date. The new opus of the Beastie Boys will be released in September.
On Twitter, the organizers of Osheaga admit to having been taken by surprise by this unfortunate news. It is obviously too early to know how the organizers will take care of the situation.
