The Montreal Canadiens will likely begin the season without a captain.

According CKAC Sports, Jacques Martin and Bob Gainey see no urgency to elect
a captain for the team and give a few more weeks to evaluate  the situation.


The most persistent rumours over the last few days suggested that Brian
Gionta was approached for the position.
