The Montreal Canadiens and their center player Tomas Plekanec had agreed to a one-year agreement, thus avoiding arbitration.
Tomas Plekanec, who had a disappointing season in 2008-2009 with an harvest of 39 points after a total of 69 last season, was without a contract and was preparing to go to arbitration. The deal he just signed with the Habs will provide him with $ 2.75 million for next season, after which he could become a free agent without compensation.
The number 14 of the Habs was draft in the third round of the 2001 session.
At aged 26, he played four seasons in the NHL, all in the uniform of the Montreal Canadiens.
