Wimbledon: Roger Federer wins the final and go down in history

Sunday, July 5 2009 3:37PM
As expected by most experts in the field, Roger Federer won the final of the
Wimbledon tournament. His victory was not an easy one: his opponent,
American Andy Roddick, pushed the game to its limits. After more than four
hours and five rounds of high-level tennis, Federer won 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 6-3
and 16-14.

Roger Federer can now proclaim himself the best tennis player in the world
with evidence to back it. Not only he grabbed the world first place again,
to Rafael Nadal, but he won an 15th Grand Slam championship, surpassing the
record of Pete Sampras.

Roger Federer will be back in action at the Rogers Cup in Montreal next
August, after a month's break.
