The firstgreat surprise came during the Wimbledon tournament yesterday while Gisela Dulko got rid of the Russian Maria Sharapova in three sets of 6-2, 3-6 and 6-4.
Wimbledon champion in 2004 (at the age of only 17 years), Maria Sharapova had put aside the competition until last May due to a shoulder operation. Because of this absence of more than 8 months, the Russian had slipped to 60th place worldwide, but many tought that Wimbledon would be her chance to get back on track.
The Argentina Gisela Dulko, 45th player worldwide, has decided otherwise.
