Draft: Montreal Canadiens has selected Louis Leblanc

Friday, June 26 2009 10:31PM
To the delight of fans gathered at the Bell Center for the first   2009
draft round of the NHL , the Montreal Canadians claimed the Quebecer center
Louis Leblanc.

The Canadians took the speech at the 18th rank. With the Quebecers still
available after the first 17th selection, the Bell Center crowd began to
shout the name of Leblanc.

A native of Kirkland, Louis Leblanc evolved with the Omaha Lancers last
season, where he produced 60 points in as many games.

As expected, the New York Islanders have chosen to forward John Tavares at
the forefront. The giant defender Victor Hedman will be with the Tampa Bay
Lightning (2nd row) and center Matt Duchesne was recovered in the third rank
with the Colorado Avalanche.

Picks for the other rounds

Finnish player Joonas Nattinen was the Habs' second round pick.

At rank #79, the Canadiens claimed American player Mac Bennett, then Russia's finest Alexander Avtsyn at rank #109, Quebecer Gabriel Dumon from the Drummondville Voltigeurs at #139, Ontario's Dustin Walsh at #169,  Michael Cichy at #199, and Finnish player Petteri Simila at #211.
